Dr. Liz Applegate’s presentation discusses specific foods and dietary supplements that may enhance brain health and transform diet to one that supports healthy aging and memory performance. Dr. Applegate is Director of Sports Nutrition and a Distinguished Lecturer at the University of California, Davis. Her educational focus is eating for optimal health and performance. She writes a column for Runner’s World, appears on national TV & radio and speaks to people of all ages about practical and science based approaches to optimizing oneself through diet.

This lecture is part of UC Davis Health System’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center 2016 Community Lecture Series sponsored by Sunrise Senior Living and Aegis Living. It was delivered live at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California on November 29, 2016.

Excess carb consumption is the whole problem. Many thousands of qualified doctors have been stating this for decades. But just like climate change and covid mania the liars of diet knowledge have the media always speaking half truths continuously .l repeat eating excess carbohydrate and not enough protein. Eat more fatty meats. Eat butter, cheese, cream,eggs vegetables and some whole fruit . What does l mean by excess carb ? I mean all refined flours sugars grains and juices. They are all very toxic to the human body .Nearly everyone in society today is close to metabolic syndrome caused diseases. That is the majority of human diseases. Eat more animal products and whole vegetables and whole fruit. Do not eat refined food at all and type 2 disbetes can be healed in just weeks to a month or so. Eat animal fats. One more warning ! The other thing that is overeaten today is all the seed oils. Americans are consuming 10times too much vegetable /seed oils .A third of the population is developing fatty liver disease because of the vegetable oil and carbohydrate consumption. Saturated fat has long been known to be very healthy. Saturated fat is full of vitamins and fuels the human body

Do you like to cook ? Can you cook ? Can you cut and or chop vegetables ? Were you kept out of the kitchen because you were male ? All the women in this room were invited into a kitchen before the age of 4 by their grandmothers to prepare them for marriage. Boys need to be taught how to cook to prepare them for life . I can't actually respond to this as being correct. Yes don't eat the bad food. But you can eat all these foods you sell in diagram and everything but if you're not active and moving constantly throughout the day and then you didn't sleep. None of this matters. It's sad that you know all diseases have a certain purpose and from our diet and this lady is picking out each what food can do good or do you bad and with things like beans they're very good at preventing colon cancer so I hate to tell you this and this is only my own experience is that I would eat healthy I would not eat healthy some of the time moderation but I would also be moving about 12 hours of the day and get at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep. That's my own body makeup that doesn't mean yours is going to be that much but I made sure I made that and I felt good when I was doing that. I spent 10 years trying to figure out what was wrong with my health. And when I figured out then I was feeling good and I was energized and I was doing this I took a step back and looked at what I was doing and basically what I was doing was number one was taking out sugar number two was reducing stress number three was being active actually walking around moving running walking picking up stuff whatever you want to say more than how much you sat down on a couch or a chair.

I just cant stick to a boring diet like that, my body rebels. Tried it, been to hospital dietitians, I have type 2 D. I have been disabled, cant move like I want. Fish makes me want to upchuck, I can tolerate some tuna, some! I dont like chicken, I have overdosed on it, hate it now. same with turkey. I will eat tenderloin, very lean hamburger, salads, I dont like beans, I do eat lentels, Cant have fruit- diabetes, my body actually shakes when i dont get sugar. I eat alot of green vegies but its boring unless i add bacon. I know, i am beyond hope!!! put me in my box :(

This is five year old nutrition information. Neither beans every other day, nor a ridiculous 3 serving of carb loaded grains or a glass of wine (try resveratrol) a day is a good idea. These foods have high glycemic ondexes and the wine will inevitably lead to alcoholism or liver or drug interaction problems. The US FOOD TABLES ARE WRONG, EVEN TODAY IN NOV 2021. Remove the fat replace it with sugars or carbs. Bad brain health.

A very nice lecture to encourage us to eat more plants. A diverse array of whole food plant based nutrition without alcohol or coffee and additional vitamin B12 with exercise can be adequate for every age for excellent organ health. Fish does not make omega 3, it comes from sea plants and chicken(40-50% saturated fat) does not make B12 which is made from soil microbes. We need to stop eating other sentient beings otherwise don’t be angry if others eat dogs. Why milk? Most humans get ill after drinking milk and humans are not calves. Cows do not consume human or wolf milk to grow muscles or for their survival.

I was 380 lbs. 2 months ago, with type 2 Diabetes. Search through the internet to find a cure and found keto intermittent fasting do it for 2 months. Lost 60 lbs. and rid of my Diabetes making it my lifestyle choice life to rid of the rest of my weight. No help from my doctor he was shocked that I threw away my drugs and killed it in 2 months.
